The McLaughlin Reserve is open to use by permission only. Those interested in using the reserve should contact the reserve manager to discuss scheduling an appointment for an orientation visit and the feasibility of the planned use. Reserve staff live on-site.
Location
McLaughlin Reserve is located at the intersection of Lake, Napa, and Yolo counties. It is approximately 2 hours northwest of the UC Davis campus.
Directions
Please arrange a date and time with Reserve staff if you wish to visit the McLaughlin Reserve. The Ray Krauss field station is located at 26775 Morgan Valley Road, Lower Lake, CA 95457. Currently, we recommend driving to Lower Lake and then onward to the Reserve; map programs might suggest approaching from the southeast on Knoxville-Berryessa Road from Lake Berryessa, but as of 2022 this route has become degraded and is hazardous for low clearance vehicles.
