Paul Havemann has been with the UC Davis Natural Reserve System since 2013 as reserve steward at the Quail Ridge and Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserves, and is currently manager of the latter. Prior to his immigration to the US in 2009 from South Africa, he spent 20 years in the formal conservation sector as a biodiversity conservation manager with Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife. He studied applied conservation at the University of South Africa in Tshwane, and holds a master’s degree in protected area management from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg. He has consulted on endangered species and protected area management in Southern Africa and Southeast Asia.
